Job Summary

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Services department, you will provide expertise in budgeting, purchasing, and accounting services to support the board's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparing the Annual and Revised Budget and implementing budget controls through continuous monitoring and reporting of performance against plans.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive financial records, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.
  • Assist with the development of the Capital Budget with support from the Plant Department.
  • Support the competitive purchasing process through effective sourcing, tendering, and adherence to the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive.
  • Perform other duties as may be required by the Manager of Financial Services.
Requirements
  • Completion of a university degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards preferred.
  • Advanced computer efficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting processes and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB), preferably in a school board setting.
  • Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently, collaboratively and with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
