Job Summary:

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Services department, you will provide expertise in budgeting, purchasing, and accounting services to support the board's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing the Annual and Revised Budget, implementing budget controls, and monitoring performance against plans.
  • Develop the Capital Budget in collaboration with the Plant Department.
  • Strategically allocate Priorities and Partnership Funding.
  • Report and record Ministry grants through the Grants for Students needs and Transfer Payment Agreements.
  • Support the completion of the annual Financial Statements, ensuring the external auditor's requests are met.
  • Report and record financial transactions of the Catholic Education Foundation.
  • Provide budgeting and invoicing support to the school board system.
  • Support the competitive purchasing process through effective sourcing, tendering, and adherence to the Broader Public Sector Procurement Directive.
  • Provide cross-functional support as needed.
  • Assist the Manager of Financial Services in establishing efficient and effective accounting systems and internal controls.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a university degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or working towards preferred.
  • Advanced computer efficiency in Excel and accounting software.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting processes and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAB), preferably in a school board setting.
  • Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently, collaboratively, and with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated initiative.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
