About the Role

Peter Street Pharmacy is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Primary Care Physician to join our team. As a Family Medicine Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and promoting health and wellness in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and Analyze Patient Information

Collect medical information from patients, family members, or other medical professionals to understand their health needs and develop effective treatment plans.

Conduct Physical Examinations

Examine patients' health condition to identify diseases and injuries, and provide accurate diagnoses and treatment recommendations.

Develop Health Plans

Help patients develop healthy habits, break old habits, and reshape their approach to wellness, promoting overall health and well-being.

Order Diagnostic Tests

Order laboratory tests, X-rays, and other diagnostic procedures to determine the most appropriate medical treatment for patients.

Consult with Other Medical Professionals

Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health, and develop comprehensive treatment plans.

Prescribe and Administer Medications

Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

Perform Routine Surgery

Perform and assist in routine surgery, providing patients with safe and effective medical care.

Provide Vaccinations and Inoculations

Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases, promoting public health and safety.

Advise Patients on Healthcare

Advise patients on healthcare options, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health.

Be a Patient Advocate

Be the patient advocate, ensuring patients receive respectful and compassionate care.

Coordinate Patient Care

Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care, ensuring patients receive seamless and effective medical attention.

Provide Acute Care Management

Provide acute care management, responding to patients' urgent medical needs and providing timely interventions.

Offer Counselling and Support

Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues, promoting overall well-being.

Provide Emergency Care

Provide emergency care, responding to patients' critical medical needs and providing life-saving interventions.

Requirements
  • Education

Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or optometry.

Experience

Experience in family medicine or a related field is an asset.

Certifications

College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP) and licensure by provincial or territorial authorities.
