Job Overview

The Financial Reporting Specialist will assist in the preparation of financial documents that comply with industry regulations and accounting standards. Reporting directly to the Controller and liaising with the Corporate Head Office, your main goal will be to ensure that the organization's financial and accounting practices align with established benchmarks and deadlines, thereby fostering precise financial reporting and robust oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in all phases of the accounting cycle by collaborating closely with the Controller and Corporate Head Office.
  • Aid in the creation and dissemination of reports for management and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage accounts payable, including the receipt, verification, and validation of accounting codes, while supporting the entry of invoices and expense claims into the accounting system.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, which includes recording payments, tracking receivables, and generating and dispatching invoices.
  • Assist with month-end closing processes and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with guidelines and requirements, including data compilation and entry of reclassification and adjustment entries.
  • Prepare documentation for annual audits.
  • Organize, archive, and update files under your jurisdiction, including procedural documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of internal controls and policies to ensure compliance with laws and recognized best practices.
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Review the organization's accounting data to identify and rectify discrepancies or imbalances.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a similar role or as an assistant controller.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and financial processes, including budgeting, financial closure, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and forecasting techniques.
  • Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel) and accounting software.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • CPA Professional Designation is an asset.
