About the Role

The Assistant Controller will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting for EightSix Network. Working closely with the Controller and Corporate Head Office, this individual will be responsible for supporting the preparation of financial statements that meet regulatory and accounting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all aspects of the accounting cycle, collaborating with the Controller and Corporate Head Office to ensure seamless financial processes.
  • Develop and distribute reporting for management and regulatory bodies, providing valuable insights into the company's financial performance.
  • Process accounts payable, including receipt, verification, and validation of accounting coding, and support the entry of invoices and expense reports into the accounting system.
  • Process accounts receivable, including entering payments, monitoring accounts receivable, and issuing and sending invoices.
  • Assist with month-end closing and preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with guidelines and requirements.
  • Prepare documents for annual audit, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Classify, archive, and update files under your responsibility, including documentation of procedures.
  • Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts, providing data-driven insights to inform business decisions.
  • Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience as assistant controller or similar position.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.).
  • Understanding of data analysis and forecasting.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software.
  • Well-organized with ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field is preferred.
  • CPA Professional Designation (an asset).
