Job Title: Correctional Nurse

At the Manitoba Government, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Correctional Nurse to join our team at the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to inmates, including assessing and treating acute and chronic health care needs, administering medication, and providing education and support to inmates and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency situations and assess immediate health care needs
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for inmates
  • Administer medication and provide treatment for illnesses and injuries
  • Provide education and support to inmates and staff
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
Requirements:
  • Nursing licensure in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM), or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM), College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM)
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Security Check, Satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Internal Screening Check
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Professional Certification
  • Satisfactory Certificate of Medical Fitness
  • Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a correctional setting or similar environment
  • Knowledge of communicable diseases, main signs and symptoms of alcohol or drug misuse
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture
