Correctional Nurse

Join the Manitoba Government team as a Correctional Nurse at the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre. As a member of the healthcare team, you will provide medical care to inmates and work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure the health and well-being of our clients.

• Respond to emergency situations and assess immediate acute and chronic health care needs
• Conduct medical examinations, administer medication, and treat illnesses and injuries
• Develop treatment plans for inmates and implement, assess, and refer to programs and interventions
• Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care

• Nursing licensure in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM), or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM), College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM)
• Satisfactory criminal records check with vulnerable security check, satisfactory child abuse registry check, adult abuse registry check, and internal screening check
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Professional Certification
• Satisfactory Certificate of Medical Fitness
• Ability to work days, evenings, and weekends

• Experience in a similar environment such as emergency, medical, surgical, or community programs
• Knowledge of communicable diseases, main signs and symptoms of alcohol or drug misuse
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture
