About the Role

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Airport Surface Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Airfield Maintenance department, you will be responsible for maintaining the airport's surfaces, roads, and ground-related areas, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the airport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair airport surfaces, including airside and groundside areas, using specialized equipment and techniques.
  • Conduct regular inspections and cleaning of airport facilities, including mobile equipment and vehicles.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including tractors, mowers, and hand-held trimming machines, to maintain grass areas and control ice and snow contamination.
  • Apply de-icing and anti-icing chemicals as required to ensure safe airport operations.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the safe and efficient operation of the airport.
Requirements
  • Secondary School education and/or experience in heavy equipment operation.
  • Valid "D/Z" Provincial Driver's License and a "D" class Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
  • Experience in snow removal, construction, and heavy equipment operation is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
