About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Thoracic Surgeon to join our team at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). As a Pediatric Thoracic Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing expert care to children with thoracic conditions, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and Treat Thoracic Conditions: Conduct thorough examinations and diagnostic tests to identify thoracic conditions, and develop and implement treatment plans to manage and treat these conditions.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and radiologists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Conduct Research and Education: Participate in research studies and educational programs to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in pediatric thoracic surgery and to contribute to the development of new treatments and technologies.
  • Supervise and Mentor: Supervise and mentor junior surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of care and to promote professional development.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Must be a licensed physician with specialized training in pediatric thoracic surgery, and hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Experience and Skills: Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in pediatric thoracic surgery, and possess excellent clinical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Qualities: Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills, and possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of pediatric thoracic surgery.
