What Awaits You?

Aecon is on the lookout for a Lead Estimator to contribute to the GO Rail Expansion (RER) project, a significant capital infrastructure endeavor in Ontario.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

Leading and mentoring a team of estimators, offering expert advice and nurturing a collaborative atmosphere. Applying your extensive construction estimating experience across various work scopes, including civil, structures, track, and stations. Conducting thorough reviews of drawings and tender documents to fully understand the project scope and submission requirements. Showcasing your proficiency in design models and integrated digital delivery (IDD) software for accurate project scope assessment and quantity generation. Developing detailed bills of quantities (BOQ) using your expertise and advanced techniques, including Bluebeam. Utilizing your extensive experience to create material price lists (from BOQs), labor costs per manhour, equipment needs, and assemble crews while accurately pricing BOQ items. Leveraging your industry knowledge and network to secure competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness without sacrificing quality. Conducting thorough research on historical data, such as purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis, benchmarking, and reports, to compile insightful summary reports and establish robust estimating guidelines. Maintaining accurate records of working documents as essential support for estimating figures. Providing valuable insights into the design process, utilizing your extensive knowledge to ensure a smooth transition from planning to execution. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, including project managers and executives, to deliver precise and comprehensive estimates that align with project goals. Performing additional duties and responsibilities as required. Promoting an inclusive culture that values equity, embraces diverse perspectives, and fosters career advancement by cultivating a sense of belonging.

What You Bring to the Team:

Over 7 years of practical experience as an estimator in the construction field, with a proven history of successfully estimating large-scale and complex projects. A solid educational background with a university degree or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management. Proficiency in interpreting and understanding complex construction drawings and blueprints. Comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies, contracts, and cost control strategies. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships, excellent communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Proven leadership abilities, empowering you to guide and motivate your team to achieve exceptional outcomes. Advanced skills in standard Microsoft software (Excel, Word, etc.), along with experience in Adobe, Visio, and Bluebeam. Outstanding time management and organizational skills, ensuring efficiency in time-sensitive scenarios. A results-driven mindset with a steadfast commitment to quality and excellence.
