The Magnaflux Technician plays a crucial role in utilizing the Magnaflux system to assess components. All tasks must be executed safely and efficiently, adhering to Johnson Electric's Health & Safety protocols, procedures, and quality standards. A solid understanding of SPS and 5S methodologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remove and clean solution filters as needed.
  • Conduct visual inspections of parts using both standard and black light techniques, along with performing particle concentration and short circuit assessments.
  • Operate cut-off saws to prepare parts for analysis when necessary.
  • Report any irregularities, such as variations in fall-out quantities or suspected defects, to the Quality Assurance Department.
  • De-magnetize all products post-MPI operation and document this on the process sheet.
  • Ensure compliance with process sheets, obtaining necessary sign-offs from relevant personnel at critical stages. Upon completing the MPI operation, accurately record and sign off on final quantities and rejection fall-out amounts.
  • Maintain an orderly workspace, clearly distinguishing between incoming and outgoing products.
  • Keep detailed logbooks on part numbers, magnaflux numbers, throughput quantities, and fall-out amounts.
  • Communicate first-off inspection results promptly to facilitate timely product management.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations regarding chemical usage, ensuring the use of required protective equipment.
  • Meet the standards set by the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to conduct continuous close-range visual inspections for extended periods to identify critical quality defects.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Completion of a specific mandatory eye test is required.
  • Understanding of stringent quality concepts relevant to automotive components.
  • Capability to work in dark, confined spaces with limited movement.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to exceeding quality and quantity expectations.
  • Proven track record of acceptable safety, attendance, quality, and production levels.
  • Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • Capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Work indoors, with exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, with assistance available if needed.
  • Flexible to work shifts that may include days, afternoons, nights, or continental schedules.
  • Capability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
