The Magnaflux Technician plays a crucial role in utilizing the Magnaflux system to assess components. It is essential that all tasks are executed safely and efficiently, adhering to Johnson Electric's Health & Safety protocols, procedures, and quality standards. A solid understanding of SPS and 5S methodologies is necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the removal and cleaning of solution filters.
  • Conduct visual inspections of components, both with and without black light, and perform particle concentration and short circuit evaluations.
  • Operate cut-off saws to prepare parts for analysis as needed.
  • Report any irregularities, such as variations in fall-out quantities or suspected defects, to the Quality Assurance Department.
  • De-magnetize all items post-MPI operation and document on the process sheet.
  • Ensure compliance with process sheets, obtaining necessary sign-offs from relevant personnel at critical stages. Upon completion of the MPI operation, record and sign off on final quantities and rejection fall-out quantities.
  • Maintain an orderly workspace where incoming and outgoing products are clearly marked.
  • Keep accurate logbooks detailing part numbers, magnaflux numbers, quantities processed, and fall-out quantities.
  • Communicate first-off inspection results promptly to facilitate timely product handling.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations regarding the proper handling of chemicals, including wearing required protective equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to conduct continuous close-range visual inspections for extended periods to identify critical quality defects.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Completion of a specific mandatory eye test is required.
  • Understanding of stringent quality concepts related to automotive components.
  • Capability to work in dark, confined spaces with limited movement.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to exceeding quality and quantity expectations.
  • Proven track record of acceptable safety, attendance, quality, and production levels.
  • Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Indoor work environment that may be noisy and subject to varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, with assistance available if needed.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, afternoons, nights, or continental shifts.
  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
