Senior Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our team at Definity Financial. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of large complex claims, including large CGL claims.
Key Responsibilities- Coach and mentor junior staff to develop their skills and expertise
- Engage with all stakeholders, including underwriting, reinsurance, actuary, and senior leadership, to effectively manage claims
- Assist in quality assurance audits of claims staff, vendors, and brokers
- Represent Definity Financial in litigation, mediation, and alternate dispute processes
- Provide technical support and training to team members
- Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and vendors in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
- Continuously develop and improve adjusting skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with the team to achieve goals and objectives
- Develop and maintain strong written and verbal communication skills
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- University degree in any discipline or a 2-year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college or fully completed CIP designation
- Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset
- A minimum of years general claims handling experience
- A minimum of 4 years claims experience handling large CGL and/or bodily injury claims
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
