Position Overview:
The Senior Director of Auxiliary Services will report directly to the Vice President of Enrolment & Community Engagement. This role is pivotal in conceptualizing, establishing, and managing a cohesive Auxiliary Services framework for the institution. The Director will be responsible for crafting and supervising strategic business plans for Auxiliary Services operations, ensuring the implementation of comprehensive systems of service and accountability aimed at enhancing net revenue-generating (non-academic) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee Retail, Print, and Graphic Services
  2. Manage Child Care Services
  3. Coordinate Facilities Rentals
Responsibilities also include managing contracts related to food services, vending, and on-site film production, contributing to an annual gross revenue of approximately $4 million.

The Auxiliary Services department plays a crucial role in enriching campus life for both students and staff while providing a vital revenue stream for the institution. Regular evaluations of existing services and the development of new business ventures will be essential for success.

Reporting Structure:
  1. Directly reports to the Vice President of Enrolment & Community Engagement
  2. Supervises the following positions:
    1. Manager of Retail Operations, Print & Graphic Services
    2. Facilities Rentals Specialist
    3. Manager of Child Care Services
    4. Assistant to the Director
Essential Functions:
  1. Provide strategic leadership for all programs and services within the Auxiliary Services department
  2. Identify and address the needs of students and staff, offering high-quality products and services
  3. Develop and expand business activities, ensuring accountability for financial outcomes
  4. Manage Auxiliary Services on a self-sustaining and revenue-generating basis
  5. Collaborate with the Vice President of Enrolment & Community Engagement to oversee risk management and operational reviews
  6. Ensure effective communication and coordination of decisions within the department and across the institution
  7. Develop and implement tactical and operational plans for the department
  8. Conduct market research to inform business planning
  9. Negotiate service contracts to maximize revenue and meet community needs
  10. Monitor and evaluate the performance of contracted services
  11. Contribute to the strategic planning of the Enrolment & Community Engagement Division
  12. Prepare and present the annual budget for all Auxiliary Services activities
  13. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures
  14. Determine staffing requirements to fulfill departmental objectives
  15. Lead and mentor departmental personnel, ensuring effective human resource development
  16. Ensure alignment of the department's business plan with institutional goals
  17. Plan for appropriate facilities to enhance service delivery and revenue generation
  18. Engage in leadership teams and contribute to senior councils
  19. Lead committees related to Auxiliary Services
  20. Stay informed on trends affecting Auxiliary Services
