Job Title: Occupational Therapist

As a member of our multidisciplinary team at the Niagara Region, the Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in providing comprehensive assessments and treatment to individuals with severe and chronic mental health concerns. This involves conducting psychosocial assessments, administering diagnostic tests and observations, developing individual treatment plans, and integrating treatment recommendations within a case planning model.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide occupational therapy intervention, consultation, and act as a professional resource to a diverse team.
  • Act as an external resource and provide consultation to other mental health and community service providers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy required.
  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy preferred.
  • Registration as a member of the Ontario College of Occupational Therapists is mandatory.
Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a mental health setting.
  • Ability to work with individuals with histories of substance abuse and mental illness, and other co-occurring disorders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and knowledge of local resources.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • French language skills are an asset.
Special Conditions:
  • Must provide own transportation and be able to travel throughout the Niagara Region to other offices, work locations, or sites as authorized by the Corporation.
  • Support clients in their travel to locations in the community when relevant to their recovery plan.
  • In accordance with Corporate Criminal Records Check policy, the position requires a Criminal Records check, including vulnerable sector screening, and submission of a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate prior to commencing employment.
  • Be available to work flexible hours, including weekend and/or evening hours as required.
  • Vaccinations as recommended in Public Health policy.
