Design Architect Opportunity

AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a highly motivated Design Architect to join our team. This position could be based out of various locations, including Kitchener, London, and Mississauga, with opportunities for hybrid and remote work.

About the Role:

We are looking for a talented Design Architect to lead projects and project pursuits in the Commercial/Industrial market sector. As a strategic collaborator, you will communicate and coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, communities, authorities, contractors, trades, and other consulting professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design leadership to produce creative, functional, and innovative designs for Commercial/Industrial clients from concept to close-out
  2. Manage projects throughout design
  3. Lead and prepare design and contract documents, facilitate document coordination, ensure quality review, provide construction review, and administer contracts
  4. Develop and promote design excellence standards
  5. Proposal development and Fee preparation
  6. Maintain technical quality standards
  7. Advocate for collaboration and integrated design
  8. Develop and maintain client relationships
  9. Support the construction administration team
  10. Work on multiple projects in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Requirements:

  1. University Degree in Architecture + four (4) years of architectural experience working with Commercial/Industrial clients
  2. Registered Architect with the OAA
  3. Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Requirements:

  1. Prefer ten (10)+ years of Architectural experience working with Commercial/Industrial clients
  2. Registration with AAA/AIBC/OAQ/AIA is an asset
  3. LEED certification and project experience is an asset
  4. Demonstrated experience with project leadership and managing complex projects
  5. Knowledge of building systems and construction detailing
  6. Technical knowledge of building systems and specifications
  7. Understanding of sustainable design best practices
  8. Strong drawing and visual/graphic communication skills
  9. Knowledge of REVIT and BIM project integration skills
  10. Proficient with MS Office, MS Project, Adobe Suite, and visualization software
  11. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  12. Understanding local building codes and regulations
