About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Catastrophe Risk Specialist to develop and maintain catastrophe models, collaborating with actuaries, data scientists, and underwriters to ensure accurate risk assessments and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and calibrate catastrophe models using industry-standard software.
  • Analyze historical data, scientific research, and insurance claims to enhance model accuracy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand risk exposures and model limitations.
  • Interpret model outputs and assumptions to inform risk assessments.
  • Coordinate model performance reviews and documentation.
  • Conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario testing to evaluate risk impacts.
  • Participate in reinsurance strategy reviews and optimize shareholder value.
  • Share knowledge and expertise in catastrophe-related areas.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 7+ years' experience in catastrophe modeling using RMS and AIR Verisk.
  • Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or risk management is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
  • Proficiency in catastrophe modeling software and programming languages.
  • Strong analytical skills and risk assessment knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
