**Salary Range/Wage Rate:** $2,949.60 bi-weekly plus 6.25% deferred compensation
**Job Description:**
We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our Liquid Waste Services team as a Combo Truck Operations Assistant. As a key member of our Field Services group, you will assist a Combo Truck Driver in the day-to-day operation of a combo truck, ensuring the safe and efficient collection and transportation of liquid waste.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Effectively and safely operate and/or assist with the operation of equipment on combo trucks and other vehicles as required.
- Perform daily inspections and complete equipment log books in accordance with BCTA Pre/Post Trip Inspection requirements.
- Perform light maintenance and operating adjustments of assigned vehicles.
- Report any mechanical deficiencies to the immediate supervisor and garage for corrective action.
- Perform general housekeeping and cleaning of vehicles.
- Submit activity reports, including timesheets, daily logs, and purchase card records.
- Attend safety meetings and training courses as required.
- Assist work groups in performing duties related to the position as required.
- Pick up and deliver materials and equipment, including sand, gravel, cement, lumber, steel, pipe, railings, barricades, compressors, pumps, generators, and other supplies.
- Flush and clean sewer lines, chambers, wet wells, water leaks, reservoirs, wastewater treatment plants, and other infrastructure.
- Participate in day-to-day operations and maintenance of regional water, wastewater, and drainage systems as required.
- Provide relief for the Combo Truck Driver as needed.
**Requirements:**
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent training and experience, supplemented with training in maintenance and construction techniques.
- Minimum two years' experience working in municipal or regional construction, water and wastewater operation, or maintenance operations.
- Possess or be able to immediately acquire Transportation of Dangerous Goods certification.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Effectively carry out written and/or verbal instructions.
- Ability to safely operate and service vehicles required for the position.
- Working knowledge of proper methods used in loading, unloading, and securing material and equipment.
- Working knowledge of the different types of aggregates, sand, gravel, etc.
- Working knowledge of procedures for working safely around above ground and underground utilities and services.
- Working knowledge of regional operations and maintenance facilities.
- Working knowledge of the operation of hydrants and high-pressure water lines and familiarity with the use of industrial vacuums.
- Understanding of WorkSafe BC regulations and corporate safety policies and procedures applicable to the position.
- Understanding of Metro Vancouver's policies and procedures applicable to the position.
- Physically capable of performing duties.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment for extended periods.
- Valid B.C. Driver's License, Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement.
