EAM is responsible for comprehensive highway and bridge maintenance tasks, which encompass vegetation management, drainage solutions, signage repairs, pavement restoration, bridge rehabilitation, gravel grading, anti-icing measures, snow removal, and emergency response operations. Our dedicated management team and field crews prioritize safety and quality for the traveling public.

We are currently looking for a Road Superintendent to oversee our operations. As a family-oriented organization, we emphasize the development of strong leadership within our workforce. Our culture promotes continuous learning, open dialogue, professionalism, respect, and accountability.

Position Overview:

The Road Superintendent is responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising highway maintenance operations, ensuring adherence to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure contract and the EAM Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate in alignment with Emil Anderson Group (EAG) Core Values in all work-related activities.
  • Commit to fostering a zero-injury culture and achieving safety goals.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise highway maintenance activities efficiently utilizing available resources.
  • Manage extra work projects assigned by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.
  • Coordinate complex work assignments and annual road inspections.
  • Supervise work crews and evaluate individual performance.
  • Ensure compliance with MOTI standards, QMS, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate work reporting, including accomplishments, manpower, equipment, and material usage.
  • Facilitate relevant EAM training programs.
  • Address public and stakeholder inquiries and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Respond to emergencies involving traffic and road closures as required.
  • Ensure processes align with quality objectives and support continuous improvement.
  • Assist the Operations Manager and Quality Manager with annual road and infrastructure assessments.
  • Oversee the maintenance and servicing of equipment to prolong its lifespan.

Additional Expectations:

  • Lead by example in contributing to departmental and company objectives.
  • Clarify expectations and maintain effective communication with supervisors and crews.
  • Pursue additional training as necessary.
  • Ensure alignment of processes with quality objectives.
  • Monitor current quality levels against target benchmarks.
  • Develop and achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Propose improvements in cost reduction, processes, quality, and productivity.
  • Participate in the Operations Management Team for support during emergencies or special requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction sector.
  • At least 3 years in a management role.
  • 2 years of experience managing in a unionized setting.
  • Local candidates or those willing to relocate are preferred.
  • Experience with MOTI Highway Maintenance is advantageous.
  • Engineering or Management degree is a plus.
  • Class 3 with Air Brakes license is required.
