We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Recycling and Waste Centre Supervisor to join our team at Emterra Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising a team of staff and ensuring the efficient operation of our recycling and waste centres.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of staff to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assume a lead role in all aspects of safety on site, including providing site orientations, chairing crew safety meetings, and conducting incident investigations.
  • Hire, coach, and apply progressive discipline (if necessary) of staff in accordance with company policies and within the terms of the collective agreement.
  • Ensure that the Recycling and Waste Centre meets all requirements from Metro Vancouver, regulatory bodies, and company expectations.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance is performed on schedule on mobile and stationary equipment.
  • Monitor and manage on-site inventories of all materials to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure detailed coordination and communication with other shift supervisors.
  • Prepare production, inventory, and other reports as necessary.
  • Train personnel on operations, specifications for outbound materials, and safety procedures.
  • Provide recommendations to improve production, service levels, and safety.
Requirements
  • Job-related post-secondary education considered an asset.
  • Computer skills necessary with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Minimum 2-3 years previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment.
  • Must be proactive and willing to learn.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience running and operating excavators, loaders, forklifts, and/or skid-steer an asset, but not necessary.
  • Able and willing to work shift work (day shifts only with four on and four off), weekends.
  • Past customer service experience is a must.
  • A friendly personality combined with a "roll-up your sleeves and get it done" attitude.
  • A good sense of humour is considered an asset.
