Employment Conditions:

  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada is required.

  • A valid 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate recognized by the Office of the Fire Commissioner is essential.

  • Physical capability to perform duties, including medium to heavy lifting, climbing, walking, crouching, and kneeling, is mandatory.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and statutory holidays, is required.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Experience in operating and working within a Power Plant (4th, 3rd, and/or 2nd Class Power Plants).
  • Proficiency in performing preventative maintenance, general equipment repairs, and completing work orders.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, procedures, and relevant safety policies and legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of initiative.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, including prioritizing workloads and managing deadlines.
  • Experience with computerized building control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Desired:

  • Experience in testing and recording readings for Standby Emergency Generators and Fire Alarm systems.

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Chief Power Engineer, the incumbent will serve as an Assistant Operating Engineer. Responsibilities include assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam boilers, electrical power generation equipment, and auxiliary systems associated with a high-pressure steam plant.
