Responsibilities:

  • Provide work assignment, training, and leadership support for shop personnel.
  • Assist the development group in the qualification testing phase for new product designs to achieve sales growth and success in the corporate medium voltage drives business.
  • Perform testing and commissioning procedures for electrical panels.
  • Test, repair, and maintain electrical equipment, including control circuits, transformers, motors, protective relays, and variable speed drives.
  • Install and maintain electrical control systems and industrial automation systems.
  • Perform basic electrical calculations for wire sizing and grounding.
  • Plan, track, and improve production metrics, including build hours, manpower plans, job costs, and more.
  • Receive drawings, detail drawings, and arrange drawings for packages to issue to teams.
  • Evaluate team members periodically and discuss individually for self-improvement.
  • Provide manufacturability updates to drawings.
  • Ensure teams follow CSA 286 and UL 508A Industrial Control Panels Codes requirements and customer specifications per project.
  • Manage shop inventory and provide purchase orders to purchasing to ensure availability of parts stock to meet production build plans.
  • Assist in technical support and problem-solving for shop assembly in wiring and equipment installations and in production testing.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Red Seal Journeyman Electrician or an Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma graduate in electrical engineering technologist or a related discipline.
  • Must have 3+ years of experience with electrical panels and VFDs.
  • 3+ years' experience in Power Control/Conversion test equipment and/or electrical assembly.
  • Proficiency with the use of shop tools and electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, set priorities, and resolve issues expeditiously to meet customer demand rates.
  • Proficiency with the use of shop tools and electrical test equipment.
  • Ability to train and supervise shop personnel.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics, wiring, and one-line diagrams.
  • Computer skills with a fundamental understanding of Microsoft suite of programs.
