Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at The Canadian Press. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and on-site environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP, as well as on-site resources, to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Automation and Deployment: Automate the deployment of resources such as EC2, ALB, VPC, CloudFront, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and SQL databases to streamline our cloud operations.
  • Operating System Management: Install, configure, and maintain operating systems to ensure compatibility and security.
  • Cloud Optimization: Review and analyze existing cloud deployments to identify opportunities for improvements and optimization, ensuring alignment with best practices.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security best practices, including user access controls, firewall configuration, and data encryption, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor cloud infrastructure, applications, and services for performance, availability, and security incidents, and identify and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, network connectivity, and application performance.
  • Automation Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Python, Bash, or PowerShell to streamline our cloud operations.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
  • Documentation and Collaboration: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, analysts, and project managers.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in managing and supporting AWS infrastructure, with in-depth knowledge of foundational AWS services such as VPC, EC2, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Linux environments (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux) and Windows server system administration, proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, MySQL), experience with cloud-native technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and serverless cloud technologies.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical.
