We are in search of a passionate and skilled Middle School STEM Educator to contribute to our educational community. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping students' futures by encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and practical learning experiences. You will conduct engaging lessons that merge concepts from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, equipping our students for success in the fast-changing STEM landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design lesson plans, outlines, and assessments utilizing inquiry-based and problem-solving methodologies that captivate students and meet educational standards.
- Create integrated STEM lessons that align with the curriculum, incorporating STEM pedagogy and inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of project-oriented STEM activities.
- Identify and incorporate new technologies into curriculum and lesson development.
- Adapt lesson plans to cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Engage in extracurricular activities, including coaching, clubs, and school community events.
- Maintain effective communication with parents regarding the overall program and individual student progress.
- Embed principles of diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging within the classroom environment.
- Promote a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where students feel encouraged to take intellectual risks.
- Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum and assessment practices reflect best practices in mathematics and computer science education.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and self-reflection to enhance teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Possession of an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate, with qualifications in Mathematics and/or Science.
- Junior/Intermediate teaching qualifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Mathematics and Science, along with the Ontario curriculum, including assessment frameworks.
- Strong understanding of STEM disciplines, including science, mathematics, technology, and engineering.
- Experience in Robotics Design and Software Development.
- Aptitude for igniting interest and enthusiasm for STEM learning among students.
- Experience with both digital and analog tools in a design technology context.
- Proficiency in Google Suite; familiarity with Brightspace is advantageous.
- Strong pedagogical skills and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative approach.
