Job Title: Middle School STEM Teacher

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Middle School STEM Teacher to join our team of educators at The Bishop Strachan School. As a STEM Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students by fostering creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts, preparing our students for success in the rapidly evolving fields of STEM.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of project-based STEM activities that promote inquiry-based learning and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and assessment practices with best practices in Math and Computer Science education.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflection to continuously improve teaching practices and student outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about all aspects of the overall program and the individual learning of each student.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel empowered to take risks.
  • Integrate diversity, equity, inclusiveness, and belonging into the classroom learning environment.
Qualifications:
  • Must have an Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate, with qualifications in Mathematics and/or Science.
  • Junior/Intermediate teaching qualifications.
  • Knowledgeable in all areas of Mathematics and Science and related Ontario curriculum, including Growing Success.
  • Strong knowledge of STEM content areas, including science, mathematics, technology, and engineering.
  • Previous experience with Robotics Design and Software Development.
  • Ability to spark interest and passion within students for STEM learning.
  • Experience working with digital and analog tools in a design technology context.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Suite; knowledge of Brightspace an asset.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset.
