Environmental Technician Opportunity at GHD

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our team in Whitby or Peterborough office for the Summer/Fall 2024 term. As an Environmental Technician, you will provide support to our environmental engineering team by assisting with brownfield redevelopment projects, environmental site assessments, and remediation projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of project-related technical documents, including environmental reports, technical specifications, work plans, and cost estimates.
  • Conduct field work and oversight associated with environmental investigations, OM&M sites, and remediation activities, including drilling oversight, soil sampling, well installation, groundwater sampling, surface water sampling, investigative/remedial excavation oversight, vapour sampling, and air quality monitoring.
  • Coordinate and schedule project-related work, including working with other GHD staff, external contractors, and public entities to obtain permits.
Requirements:
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Science, Geological Science, Physics, or Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Working towards a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Environmental Professional (EP) designation is an asset.
  • Recent graduates and current students will be given consideration.
  • Positive attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.
