Environmental Field Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Field Technician to join our team at GHD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting environmental field investigations, including drilling, sampling, and data collection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct drilling investigations involving geotechnical, hydrogeological, and environmental components.
  • Coordinate and review utility locates and utility drawings.
  • Interpret engineering drawings/plans and reports and layout locations in the field.
  • Log soil and rock samples.
  • Conduct surveying and sampling activities.
  • Collect soil samples for environmental and geotechnical testing.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, client representatives, and agencies as required.
  • Train staff in field methods and sampling techniques.
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the group in assisting with other field, laboratory, and office activities as required.
  • Complete clear, neat, and accurate field notes.
  • Prepare data tables, stratigraphic logs, scopes of work, health and safety plans, and other related documents.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • College diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program.
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical, hydrogeology field testing, and bedrock drilling/logging.
  • General experience with MS Office software, including Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Working knowledge of MECP, MNRF, MOL, and Acts & Regulations associated with the type of work being performed.
  • Valid First Aid/AED Training certification.
  • Must own a reliable vehicle and hold a valid driver's license.
  • Adaptable and analytical, with a willingness to ask questions.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Team player, cooperate with other staff.
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines.
