**Works Technician 1 - GIS (Technical Support)**

The incumbent will:

- Provide data and maps to clients in the form of GIS maps, data tables, queries, files, images and summarizations by extracting spatial and tabular data from the linear infrastructure of Water, Sanitary and Storm Sewer and others related data
- Digitize, edit and revise Regional water, sanitary and storm infrastructure systems drawings
- Create and modify drawings of the Valve Location System
- Provide training and user support for the program and maintain the intersection drawing database
- Communicate with clients and co-workers in writing and verbally
- Respond to inquiries from clients, co-workers and the public and participate in client meetings

The successful applicant will possess:

- A post-secondary diploma in Civil, Environmental or related Technology field or equivalent and a one-year GIS certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registration or eligible for registration as an Engineering Technologist with OACETT
- Experience and training related to the ESRI ArcGIS software platform
- Knowledge of digital mapping and GIS technology skills, techniques in topology and spatial analysis, geographic data exchange formats and projections and Relational Database Management
- Knowledge in the review of engineering drawings and record keeping principles in Construction and Asset Management
- Experience working with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), AutoCAD and ArcGIS software
- Excellent verbal and written communication, effective customer service, teamwork, problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
- A valid Ontario 'G' Driver's Licence and the use of a reliable vehicle

**CUPE 1764 Salary Grade 5**

This position is with Salary Grade 5 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:

- Start: $37.47 - Six Month: $39.55 - Job: $41.63
