Under the guidance of the Pre-Construction Director, the Assistant Project Coordinator (Co-op Student) will engage actively in a significant civil infrastructure initiative within the Greater Toronto Area. This role is primarily office-based and encompasses daily oversight of project execution, resource distribution, scheduling, and financial management for an 8-month term.
Co-op Opportunities
Currently, we have two positions available for an 8-month co-op term.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver analytical data and project insights to management.
- Monitor productivity, expenses, and advancement of the project.
- Conduct quantity take-offs from construction plans as necessary.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail and assess the quality of completed tasks.
- Communicate with and update any Aecon representative regarding project timelines.
- Track progress and support the preparation of job cost reports for management.
- Contribute data and insights for month-end financial reconciliations.
- Organize and maintain project files and correspondence.
- Provide technical assistance to on-site personnel.
- Aid in the coordination, preparation, and submission of as-built and design drawings.
- Support the drafting, review, maintenance, and approval of engineering documents.
- Collect field data and assist in the development of project material lists.
- Help prepare detailed construction and design cost estimates.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Perform additional administrative tasks as needed.
- Must demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Previous experience in the construction field is highly advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities for engaging with a diverse team.
- Proficient organizational and time management capabilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to varying work schedules as necessary to meet project deadlines.
