As a Laboratory and Imaging Technologist, you will engage in essential procedures across both laboratory and diagnostic imaging settings, primarily in rural healthcare facilities. Your role will involve collaborating with an inter-professional team to collect and analyze biological samples, perform X-ray examinations, conduct ECGs, and accurately report findings.
Key Responsibilities:- Patient Preparation: Ensure patients are ready for procedures, including venipuncture and micropuncture.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and maintenance of laboratory and imaging equipment.
- Quality Control: Uphold quality control standards as required in both laboratory and imaging environments.
- Classification: Combined Lab/X-Ray Tech I
- Union: HSAA FAC PROF/TECH
- Employee Class: Regular Part Time
- FTE: 0.80
- Shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends, On Call
- Hours per Shift: 7.75
- Shift Pattern: 2-week cycle with 8 shifts
Required: Completion of a diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications: Experience in hematology, expanded chemistry, coagulation, and urinalysis, including microscopic analysis. Recent experience in cardiology, particularly with ECGs, is essential. Proficiency in diagnostic imaging, including DR, CR, and mobile radiography, is required. Current phlebotomy skills, including venipuncture and micropuncture, are necessary. Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with Connect Care Epic, Unity Real Time, WellSky, MUSE, and Agfa PACS is advantageous. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Knowledge of Ortho Vitros XT 3400, DxH 600, Clinitek Advantus, Access 2, and ACL Elite Pro instruments is beneficial.
