Job Title: Delivery Manager

Scotiabank is seeking a highly skilled Delivery Manager to join our Global Risk Technology team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing IT projects and initiatives to serve and support the Global Market and Counterparty Risk department (GRT) and the Global Banking and Market desks (GBM).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead projects and run the bank initiatives, including business case preparation, development, testing, release, and post-release of IT initiatives.
  • Maintain management documents to lead projects and initiatives, including cost, timelines, scope, governance, communication plan, and testing plan.
  • Work with Business stakeholders (GRM and GBM) and IT managers to establish the yearly roadmap of technology deliveries and update it throughout the year with changes in priorities and evolving capacity of the technology team.
  • Understand, analyze, and respond to internal and external audit and regulatory requests.
  • Work with business stakeholders (GRM, GBM, Middle Office, Back Office Downstreams) and technology groups to coordinate projects and run the bank activities from inception to delivery.
  • Communicate and make decisions during project meetings, including technology roadmap review, desk prioritization meetings, and Steering Committee.
  • Manage project participants and relationships to ensure project teams are cohesive and operating to common objectives and priorities.
  • Hold meetings and work sessions as necessary to ensure project management and run the bank initiatives are met, including scrum meetings, project planning, risk management, issue management, and status meetings.
  • Maintain the momentum of projects and the technology roadmap against a background of changing and occasionally conflicting priorities.
  • Be a servant leader to the IT Team by solving outside issues to let the project team focus on delivering business value.
  • Ongoing communication of project and initiative status, completing monthly Status Reports, and escalating issues to the Operations Sponsor, Director, and VP as required.
  • Ensure documentation and archiving of project activities, deliverables, tools, and findings for use in future projects.
  • Operate independently day-to-day with direction received only at the most conceptual or abstract level.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in technology project management (5 years minimum), including infrastructure projects, development of new applications, and streamlining of front-to-end processes.
  • Proven experience with delivering projects to Risk departments and/or Capital Market clients, specifically Trading desks (5 years minimum). Experience in Market or Counterparty Credit Risk Management will be considered a plus.
  • Very organized and methodical. Highly qualified in IT project management.
  • Experience with answering internal and external audit and regulatory requests.
  • Excellent communication skills with Risk and Front Office traders, and technology experts.
  • Ability to create a positive teamwork mindset in a large technology team of 40+ professionals.
  • Experience with People management in an IT organization will be a plus.
  • Experience & skilled with project delivery tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project, etc.
  • Ability & confidence to produce presentation and workflow views for Senior Management reporting via tools like MS, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Thorough understanding of Change and Resource Management.
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Risk certification, CFA, or Capital Market education.
  • PMP designation, Agile Methodology, ITIL, Formal Project Management Education.
  • Exposure to SDLC and Agile methodologies.
  • Exposure to IT development, Infrastructure/network will be an asset.
