Position: Equipment Maintenance Mechanic

Shift: Rotational shifts of 8 to 12 hours

We are in search of a skilled technician with a strong mechanical background to ensure the optimal performance of our production systems and machinery. The role involves executing preventive maintenance schedules, diagnosing, and rectifying any mechanical issues that may arise during operations. The equipment in our facility includes various industrial, electromechanical, and hydraulic systems, as well as pumps and conveyor mechanisms.

The Equipment Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for:

  • Conducting inspections and assessments of machinery (including conveyors, packaging machines, and sensors) to identify and troubleshoot irregularities.
  • Executing maintenance tasks as per work orders, which may include cleaning and lubrication.
  • Adjusting machinery and replacing defective components as necessary.
  • Performing thorough troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment failures.
  • Exhibiting a proactive approach to problem-solving and finding effective solutions.
  • Adapting quickly to challenges and maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Carrying out daily maintenance and repairs within the production area.
  • Assisting in the setup, disassembly, and relocation of processing and packaging equipment.
  • Working comfortably with electrical and PLC controls.
  • Adhering to safety and food safety regulations.
  • Being available for emergency repairs of production equipment as needed.
  • Performing additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a mechanical trade.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a field service technician or repair technician in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in automation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including some extended hours and weekends.
  • Welding skills are considered an asset.

The work environment may involve exposure to various conditions, including moderate noise levels and potential hazards associated with machinery. This position is typically performed in a factory setting, which may include slippery surfaces and the handling of hazardous materials.
