Role Summary
The Accommodation Support Coordinator plays a vital role in the coordination of accommodations for students registered with Accessible Learning. Reporting to the Manager of Accommodation Support Services, this position is responsible for overseeing the peer volunteer note-taking program and managing educational support services, including sign language interpreters and educational assistants. The Coordinator will facilitate understanding and engagement with accommodation processes among faculty and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Note-taking Coordination: Lead the peer volunteer note-taking initiative by recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers. Develop promotional materials and application processes to enhance student engagement. Ensure effective matching of note-takers with courses and maintain accurate records in data management systems. Provide training on confidentiality and responsibilities, and manage the exchange of notes.
- Service Provider Coordination: Recruit and schedule professional service providers, including real-time captioners and interpreters. Assist students in the hiring process by providing necessary resources.
- Examination Coordination: Organize and manage tests, midterms, and final exams for students with accommodations. Address last-minute requests and collaborate with the Exam Coordinator as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Implement a communication strategy to enhance connections between students, faculty, and campus partners regarding accommodation support.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Experience in hiring, training, and supervising staff and volunteers is essential.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time, continuing position with standard hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary.
Compensation
Level: E
Rate of pay: $46.96
