Student Engagement and Recruitment Officer

Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute, recognized by community, government, and institutions of higher learning, as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. SNP offers postsecondary, secondary, trades education and training. SNP has formal partnerships with nine publicly funded Ontario Universities and Colleges and collaborates with six Ontario-based Indigenous owned and controlled post-secondary Institutes.
**Function & Overview**
Reporting to the Registrar, with matrix reporting to the Director Student Affairs, the Student Engagement and Recruitment Officer is responsible for assisting the Student Recruitment and Liaison Officer with the delivery of a student recruitment program for Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) including, but not limited to, all full and part time postsecondary, continuing education, trades and preparatory programs. The position will be an influential resource to attract potential students, maximize enrolment, and enhance our position within the postsecondary community.
The Student Engagement and Recruitment Officer is also responsible for increasing engagement among all SNP students via the development, implementation and evaluation of a student experience framework, in collaboration with and the Academic Departments at SNP. The incumbent liaises with student support staff, students, and other SNP staff and faculty generally, to support an environment that fosters student engagement and helps students flourish. Advice is provided to the SNP community, based on research and survey results on best practices in student engagement and student development theory. The incumbent supports events, including orientation, and initiatives that contribute to positive student experiences, equips students with information and training, and strengthens faculty and campus partnerships to enhance student life.
The Student Engagement and Recruitment Officer is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).
**Duties**
The duties of the Student Engagement and Recruitment Officer include, without limitation:
**Community Liaison**
- Advising prospective applicants/students via 1 on 1 and group settings, using an advising model, on program options, admission requirements, pathways, upgrading, transfer credits, etc.;
- Responding to student enquiries about programs and admission processes in coordination with the Registrarial Services Associate;
- Working collaboratively with the Student Recruitment and Liaison Officer to ensure that SNP is participating in community events and Provincial recruitment events such as education and career fairs, relevant conference trade shows, APSIP tour and any other relevant events that will promote and maximize enrollment of SNP programs and services;
- Crafting and delivering presentations to promote programming to prospective students and community organizations;
- Hosting service providers, guidance counsellors, and community members;
- Liaising with program areas to obtain upcoming program information and to provide insight on competitor programs;
**Development, Implementation and Evaluation of Student Experience**
- Researching best practices in student affairs and student development theory;
- Integrating competencies and learning outcomes (i.e., UDLEs) into extra/co-curricular opportunities;
- Developing metrics and KPIs for evaluating leadership, mentorship, research, working, and volunteer opportunities as well as the student experience framework at regular intervals and with stakeholder input;
- Exploring the use of co-curricular records for tracking and verifying student participation in extra/co-curricular activities;
- Exploring new and innovative ways of recognizing student engagement, communicating available opportunities, and adding value to the student experience beyond the classroom;
- Developing and executing a first-year orientation experience for all students;
**Events**
- Coordinating campus events and attending events related to recruitment initiatives, including, Open Houses, Information Sessions, APSIP, College Fairs, University Fairs, Pow Wows, Trade Shows, Employment and Career Fairs, etc.;
- Coordinating student engagement events and programming in partnership with student services staff and academic departments, including events that encourage cross-program engagement and participation;

- Coordinating and hosting online recruitment and student engagement events;
