About the Position
The Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a faculty position in fruit genetics and improvement. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research in fruit genetics and breeding of perennial horticulture crops for the northern prairies.
- Develop and release improved varieties of these crops through integration of conventional and modern genetic and genomic tools and technologies.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Plant Sciences.
- Supervise and mentor students and post-graduate fellows.
- Establish a rigorous, competitive, and extramurally funded research program.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in breeding or genetics, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with perennial fruit crops is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to participate in outreach activities.
- Post-doctoral experience relevant to the position is preferred.
