Faculty Member, Fruit Genetics and Improvement

About the Position:
The Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a faculty position in fruit genetics and improvement. This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assume a well-established breeding program focused on perennial horticulture crops for the northern prairies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in fruit genetics and improvement, with a focus on perennial horticulture crops.
- Develop and implement a breeding program for these crops.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Plant Sciences.
- Supervise and mentor students and post-graduate fellows.
- Collaborate with local, national, and international programs and colleagues.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in breeding or genetics, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with perennial fruit crops is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to participate in outreach activities.
- Post-doctoral experience relevant to the position is preferred.
