Instrumentation Scientist

At Standard BioTools Inc., we're pushing the boundaries of life sciences innovation. As an Instrumentation Scientist, you'll be part of a pioneering team that's accelerating global research on multiple frontiers of human health.
We're seeking a motivated and skilled professional to join our Proteomics Operations team. The successful candidate will focus on inventing and researching new instrumentation for mass cytometry, including projects involving laser ablation, gas dynamics, and aerosols.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research and invent concepts of sub-units of mass cytometry instrumentation.
- Collaborate with product management to align capabilities of technologies with future customer needs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to transfer promising research concepts into development.
- Develop and analyze data from research concepts or troubleshooting experiments.
- Document findings and results in electronic notebooks.
- Masters degree in Physical Sciences or engineering Physics, plus a minimum of 10+ years of experience in a lab environment.
- Strong background in physics, including optics, ion optics, gas dynamics, aerosols, chemical physics, electronics, thermodynamics, and thermal analysis.
- Ability to work with simulation tools and conduct basic data analysis.
- Experience in designing and testing assemblies of mass spectrometers is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of mass spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma ionization method is desirable.
