Job Title: Pipefitter

Oxy is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join our team in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for performing direct repair and preventive maintenance tasks on various equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, centrifuges, and other rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform direct repair and preventive maintenance tasks on rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, centrifuges, and other equipment.
  • Test, study, and evaluate equipment problems through observation, disassembly, and measurement of failed and new parts.
  • Rebuild equipment to specifications.
  • Determine material needs, sequence of operations, and job methods, including the use of computer systems for storing and using information for preventative/predictive maintenance.
  • Interpret drawings and plans, determine procedures, and calculate and determine dimension, tapers, and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
  • Lubrication of equipment plant-wide.
  • Perform vibration analysis, laser alignment on critical equipment, and downloading of vibration data from handheld portable collectors into computers.
  • Perform a wide variety of mechanical repairs and construction, including pipefitting, rigging, welding, reinforced plastic, sheet metal systems, structural systems, carpentry, masonry work, industrial painting, insulation, machinist fitting, and hydraulic repairs.
Requirements:
  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in Millwright or Pipefitter.
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate basic computer software applications, including Outlook, and conduct research using the internet.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in the repair and maintenance of various types of mechanical equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Predictive and Preventative maintenance practices, diagnostic and problem-solving skills related to technical issues.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on safety and quality. The candidate will be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant. The candidate must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, stooping, etc. The candidate must have good manual dexterity and experience using industrial hand tools and power tools. The candidate must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including the use of a respirator. The candidate must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms. The candidate must be able to work in confined spaces, work at heights, and work from platforms.
