Job Title: Pipefitter

Oxy is seeking an experienced Pipefitter to join our team in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Pipefitter to perform direct repair and preventive maintenance tasks on various equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and centrifuges. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance practices, diagnostic and problem-solving skills, and the ability to read process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform direct repair and preventive maintenance tasks on equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and centrifuges.
  • Test, study, and evaluate equipment problems through observation, disassembly, and measurement of failed and new parts.
  • Rebuild equipment to specifications.
  • Determine material needs, sequence of operations, and job methods, including the use of computer systems for storing and using information for preventative/predictive maintenance.
  • Interpret drawings and plans, determine procedures, and calculate and determine dimension, tapers, and other data using shop formulas and handbooks.
  • Lubrication of equipment plant-wide.
  • Perform vibration analysis, laser alignment on critical equipment, and downloading of vibration data from handheld portable collectors into computers.
  • Perform a wide variety of mechanical repairs and construction, including pipefitting, rigging, welding, reinforced plastic, sheet metal systems, structural systems, carpentry, masonry work, industrial painting, insulation, machinist fitting, and hydraulic repairs.
Requirements:
  • Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in Millwright or Pipe-Fitter.
  • Completion of a related trade, including or Pipefitter, Welder, or Machinist, would be considered an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate basic computer software applications, as well as Outlook, and to conduct research using the internet.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant. They must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, stooping, etc. They must also have good manual dexterity and experience using industrial hand tools and power tools.
