The TD Model Validation (MV) team is tasked with the independent assessment and endorsement of analytical models utilized for risk management, pricing strategies, hedging activities, and capital evaluation across a diverse portfolio of financial instruments. This includes the validation of models that inform decision-making processes.
*Role Responsibilities:
This role reports to the Senior Manager of the TBSM Model Validation team within MV. Key responsibilities include:
- Validation of Treasury Models, including comprehensive integration models employed for Treasury & Balance Sheet Management (TBSM), focusing on Interest Rate Risk for Banking Book (IRRBB), Liquidity Risk Management, interest rate hedging, and related accounting practices.
- Implementation of validation methodologies and standards, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and timely responses to regulatory and audit requirements.
- Collaboration with business partners to manage internal data effectively, ensuring data integrity for model validation and development, as well as compliance with data governance regulations.
- Evaluation of the conceptual robustness of model methodologies, including the underlying assumptions.
- Application of various technical and statistical tests, alongside modeling techniques, to verify implementation accuracy and assess model specifications and performance.
- Assessment and implementation of external models for benchmarking internal model performance, including participation in model selection and due diligence processes.
- Preparation of model validation reports that succinctly summarize validation analyses and conclusions, supporting regulatory submissions and addressing potential audit inquiries. Reports will cover model methodology assessments, input quality evaluations, assumption reasonability, performance testing results, and governance/control processes.
- Continuous professional development in quantitative analysis techniques and advancements, sharing insights with business partners and senior management.
This position requires effective collaboration with various internal stakeholders, including the Treasury & Balance Sheet Management Group (TBSM), Treasury and Analytics Group (TAG), Enterprise Non-Trading Market Risk (ENTMR), Enterprise Liquidity Risk (ELR), US Market Risk (USMR), and Internal Audit.
*Qualifications:
- Strong quantitative capabilities, supported by an advanced degree in Financial Economics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or Finance.
- Proficient technical skills and experience with Python, SQL, and SAS; familiarity with JSON is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of Financial Statements and Corporate Finance principles.
- Experience in model development or validation, with advanced knowledge of testing techniques for large-scale aggregation models; familiarity with regulatory standards for liquidity risk management and IRRBB is a plus. Knowledge of databases and data structures is beneficial.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management and multitasking capabilities, requiring minimal supervision.
