Role Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will engage in a variety of stimulating projects alongside our mining professionals.
As a Lead Mining Engineer, your duties will encompass:
- Providing mining engineering and design expertise for various mine studies, including scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design, and NI 43-101/SK-1300 technical reports.
- Coordinating mining engineering initiatives with the mining team and other engineering specialties, such as electrical, mechanical, and civil/structural engineering.
- Overseeing the creation of mining engineering drawings and specifications for equipment procurement.
- Managing large-scale multidisciplinary projects, focusing on technical, personnel, and commercial aspects.
- Determining the necessary mine infrastructure and services.
- Collaborating with other BBA offices for project assignments.
- Mentoring junior mining engineering staff.
- Promoting BBA's Mining and Metals services both internally and externally.
- Ensuring high-quality service delivery to maintain BBA's esteemed professional reputation.
- Planning and managing technical and commercial risks effectively.
- Facilitating inter-team and inter-departmental coordination.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in mining operations, engineering, or project evaluation.
- Proficiency in mining design and planning software such as Deswik, MineSight, Datamine, Vulcan, or Surpac.
- Experience in both open pit and underground mining techniques, including cut & fill, bulk mining (VRM), sub-level block caving, and block caving.
- Knowledge of mine equipment selection and cost estimation for capital and operational expenses.
- Understanding of the essential components for successful mining operations, including processing, tailings, and infrastructure.
- A passion for mentoring and sharing knowledge with fellow engineers.
- Strong technical and project management capabilities.
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Assets:
- Functional proficiency in a second language (French or Spanish).
- A professional and technical communication style with colleagues and clients.
- A willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including to remote locations.
