YOUR ROLE

Take a significant step in shaping your professional journey with Stantec. We are seeking a Financial Project Coordinator (FPC) who will report to a Project Accounting Lead (PAL). In this capacity, you will oversee the financial stewardship of a collection of projects, ensuring adherence to Stantec's established controls, policies, and practices.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Manage the financial aspects of projects assigned by the Project Accounting Lead (PAL), including project initiation, ongoing management, invoicing, and project closure.
  2. Deliver exceptional customer service with a focus on client satisfaction, ensuring that the quality of work consistently meets or surpasses expectations.
  3. Cultivate strong partnerships and act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, including Project Managers (PM) and Project Manager Assistants (PMA).
  4. Foster collaborative relationships with fellow Project Accountants and other FST members, such as Finance Managers, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, to promote teamwork.
  5. Organize and prioritize tasks independently to ensure timely completion of responsibilities, escalating issues to the PAL as necessary.
  6. Implement process improvements and procedural changes as directed by management.
  7. Collaborate with PM and PMA to suggest an appropriate work breakdown structure (WBS), issue accurate and compliant invoices, and perform additional tasks as required.
  8. Assess project setup and budget modification documentation to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, internal controls, and IFRS standards.
  9. Work closely with Stantec's finance team to guarantee timely and accurate completion of supported tasks.
  10. Prepare for internal and external audits and respond to inquiries from PA Leadership and Finance Managers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
  2. 0-3 years of relevant experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  3. Familiarity with Oracle is a plus but not essential.
  4. Strong organizational skills, adaptability to change, and meticulous attention to detail are required.
  5. Excellent problem-solving abilities are essential.
  6. General accounting knowledge gained through education and/or experience is necessary.
  7. Strong customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal) are crucial for building effective working relationships.
  8. Ability to foresee potential implications of actions to minimize financial impacts.
  9. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, with a preference for intermediate understanding.
  10. Capability to independently review contracts and comprehend terms related to project type, scope of work, and invoicing conditions.

This position is primarily office-based, with the possibility of partial remote work, involving computer use and extended periods of sitting.
