Rehabilitation Therapist Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant/Clerk to join our team at Fraser Canyon Hospital. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in assisting patients with their rehabilitation therapies and providing administrative support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist patients with established rehabilitative activities, including retraining in activities of daily living (ADL) such as self-care, dressing, meal management, transfers, mobility, and application/removal of braces/splints.
- Transport patients to and from rehabilitation therapies outside the facility by operating bus and perform related clerical duties.
- Prepare and apply modalities as directed by the therapist and instruct/demonstrate to patients the use of self-care aides, eating utensils, mobility aids, etc.
- Under the direction of the therapist, assist in fabricating adaptive devices such as splints, slings, collars, heels, heel lifts, and wheelchair cushions.
- Set up and organize furnishings and equipment for rehabilitation therapies as directed and clean and maintain established inventory of equipment, devices, and materials.
- Report malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to appropriate staff and carry out established rehabilitative therapies outside the facility as assigned.
- Communicate observations of patient behavior and progress to the Therapist, Team Leader, or nursing staff as appropriate and participate in team meetings and care conferences.
- Document observations and care given on the health record and maintain other appropriate records/documentation as required.
- Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Class 4 Driver's license, as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, deal with others effectively, teach, organize work, and operate related equipment.
