Job Overview

The City of Ottawa is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Transit Fleet and Facilities Maintenance team. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our transit vehicles, providing high-quality maintenance services that meet federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough diagnostic inspections of transit vehicles, identifying issues and performing necessary repairs.
  • Execute general mechanical overhauls and routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
  • Perform unit changes and repairs on a variety of fleet vehicles, including but not limited to transmission systems, brake components, electrical systems, and more.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Truck and Coach Technician apprenticeship program, totaling 6720 hours.
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Truck and Coach Technician (310T).
  • A minimum of one year of post-certification experience in a similar role is required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems and the tools and equipment used in automotive maintenance.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic equipment and Fleet Management Information Systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation relevant to the trade.
