Director of Nursing

The City of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our long-term care team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care to our residents.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Management
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Supervise and manage a team of nursing staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless care delivery and resident satisfaction.
- Clinical Expertise
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring that residents receive high-quality care.
- Develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in long-term care nursing.
- Operational Management
- Manage the nursing budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet resident needs.
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date resident records.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that resident care is coordinated and effective.
- Quality Improvement
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care and satisfaction.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that quality improvement initiatives are aligned with organizational goals.
- Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in long-term care nursing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Skills and Qualities
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent clinical expertise and knowledge of long-term care nursing practices.
- Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
