Job Summary

The City of Toronto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our long-term care team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
    • Supervise and manage a team of nursing staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless care delivery and resident satisfaction.
  • Clinical Expertise
    • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff, ensuring that residents receive high-quality care.
    • Develop and implement care plans that meet the unique needs of each resident.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in long-term care nursing.
  • Operational Management
    • Manage the nursing budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet resident needs.
    • Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date resident records.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that resident care is coordinated and effective.
  • Quality Improvement
    • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care and satisfaction.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that quality improvement initiatives are aligned with organizational goals.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in long-term care nursing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Skills and Qualities
    • Strong leadership and management skills.
    • Excellent clinical expertise and knowledge of long-term care nursing practices.
    • Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
