Job Overview:
As a vital member of the Flood Risk Management Team, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Council in its responsibilities as the Lead Local Flood Authority. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Council's objectives in managing flood risks and enhancing community resilience against climate change.
Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with statutory duties related to flood risk management. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive advice on planning applications, ensuring that all responses align with both local and national regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and advise on planning applications concerning surface water management in accordance with statutory guidelines.
- Deliver specialized technical input for planning consultations related to flood risk management.
- Offer expert guidance to partner agencies and the Local Planning Authority on the development and upkeep of the Strategic Flood Risk Assessment.
- Participate in Council meetings, providing technical insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to the oversight and enforcement of activities on ordinary watercourses.
We seek candidates with a strong background in Flood Risk Management and development control. The ideal applicant will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, along with a solid understanding of flood risk principles and land drainage systems. A degree in civil engineering or a related field is preferred.
