Job Title: Senior Instructor - Safety Skills

As a Senior Instructor - Safety Skills at Wesco International, Inc., you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of safety training programs. Your expertise will be utilized to create and implement new safety initiatives, ensuring a safe working environment for our customers and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and direct safety skills instructors in course delivery, ensuring high-quality training and adherence to safety standards.
  • Assist in developing new company-initiated projects for deployment in the field, focusing on safety skills and training.
  • Collaborate with the safety consultant to interview and select new safety skills instructors, ensuring the right candidates for the role.
  • Stay up-to-date with Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards and ensure they are regularly updated.
  • Develop customer safety programs and safe work procedures, prioritizing employee safety and well-being.
  • Conduct fall protection system inspections and fall protection/confined space equipment inspections following the HazSafeID program.
  • Perform hazard assessments to identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Design and deliver training programs using a systematic approach, incorporating lectures, demonstrations, discussions, laboratory work, and hands-on exercises.
  • Prepare, administer, and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress and understanding.
  • Coordinate course logistics, including materials, equipment, and travel arrangements.
  • Supervise independent or group projects, field placements, and hands-on training, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets, curriculum revision, and course requirements, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local regulatory bodies, providing updates to local management and ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Submit training documents and photos to the branch administrative assistant upon course completion.
  • Liaise with the senior sales associate and safety consultant regarding training schedules and requirements.
Qualifications:
  • High School Degree or Equivalent required; Associates' degree preferred.
  • CRSP, CSC, CSO certifications preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in safety required; 5 years preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in adult education required; 5 years preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in safety equipment required; 5 years preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in customer relations and service required; 5 years preferred.
  • Ability to prepare, administer, and mark tests/papers to evaluate students' progress.
  • Ability to conduct safety equipment inspections and make pass/fail decisions.
  • Ability to prepare teaching materials and course outlines.
  • Ability to use audio-visual equipment.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse groups and learning styles.
  • Problem-solving and job task planning skills.
Working Environment:

As a Senior Instructor - Safety Skills, you will work in an office environment, but may need to travel to customer sites or warehouse facilities. You may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and will require a valid driver's license for extended periods of travel.
