We are seeking a talented Transportation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of transportation projects, including traffic engineering, highway design, bridge engineering, and contract administration. The position will involve a mix of fieldwork and office work, depending on the season and team.
Our team works closely with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large-scale projects to deliver quality highway and bridge projects across all phases from planning and design through to construction.
Key Responsibilities:- Participate in the delivery of traffic, highway, and bridge projects, including planning, design, and construction inspection.
- Produce preliminary and detail design drawings.
- Conduct calculations related to traffic engineering, bridge engineering, and highway engineering.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams comprising designers, engineers, and specialists.
- Prepare reports, technical memos, meeting minutes, and other project documentation.
- Conduct field investigations related to bridge inspections, highway engineering, and traffic engineering.
- Work safely and observe/ work in conformance with GHD's Behaviour-Based Safety culture.
- Complete day-to-day inspections of Highway/Road/Bridge and Sewer/Watermain projects in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals under the supervision of Senior Inspectors and other team members.
- Complete project records/diary entries for construction administration assignments.
- Work overtime hours as necessary.
- Enrolled Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for launching a career in transportation engineering.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, MIDAS, and/or SAP2000 would be an asset.
- Familiarity with traffic analysis software such as Synchro, Aimsun, or Vissim would be an asset.
