Position Overview

We invite you to consider a role with Vancouver Coastal Health as a Licensing Officer - Child Care. In this position, you will play a vital role in the inspection and regulation of child day care facilities, ensuring adherence to applicable standards and regulations. Your contributions will be instrumental in safeguarding the health and welfare of children in care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough inspections and evaluations of community care facilities
  • Issue licenses and investigate complaints and incidents that require reporting
  • Offer guidance to facility operators to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Enforce relevant regulations and advocate for high-quality care within child care settings

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Possession of a Certificate or Diploma in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in managing child care programs
  • Valid BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate
  • Current BC Driver's License

Skills & Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of provincial legislation and regulations concerning child care licensing
  • Proficient in investigating complaints and providing recommendations for corrective measures
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team while maintaining confidentiality
