PUR operates within the fast-evolving realm of environmental consultancy and nature-based solutions (NbS). This sector has gained momentum as the global community acknowledges the essential services provided by nature and the urgency to preserve and restore these services to tackle environmental challenges. Effective NbS projects must address genuine societal issues while delivering significant environmental, economic, and social benefits to local communities.
Key Market Insights:
- NbS projects, when combined with deep decarbonization efforts, could contribute up to 30% of the necessary mitigation to limit global warming to 1.5°C by 2030 (World Economic Forum, 2023).
- The carbon credits from NbS projects represent the largest volume available in voluntary carbon markets, with $9 billion invested from 2020 to 2022 (Sylvera, 2023).

Role Overview
PUR is in search of a technical expert with a strong background in designing, developing, and assessing the economic impacts of livelihoods within agricultural projects. This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing PUR's livelihood offerings and ensuring the integration of livelihood and farmer economic considerations into our global projects.
The ideal candidate will possess experience working with international teams, both remotely and on-site, and will be adept at navigating complex topics related to project design, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and impact assessment. They will excel in executing product development plans within defined timelines and budgets, and will be comfortable traveling to diverse project sites.
This position reports to the Chief Product Officer based in Toronto, Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development and Management:
- Develop Economic Livelihoods Co-Benefit Offer for Differentiated Temperate & Tropical Regions.
- Identify Best Industry Frameworks for Alignment.
- Create methodologies for Baseline and Evaluation of livelihood and economic impact models.
- Collaborate with Intervention Specialists to evaluate pathways for enhanced impact.
- Lead the piloting of frameworks and activities.
- Design, develop, and test Carbon Equity Offers.
- Refine Benefit Sharing and Stakeholder Consultation Mechanisms in line with evolving certification frameworks.
- Support the scaling and adaptive management of these initiatives across PUR's global portfolio, starting with priority projects.
Research and Design:
- Conduct technical research to enhance internal capabilities and inform project design.
- Map market and industry best practices to meet client social programming requirements.
- Assist regional teams in piloting MRV approaches for livelihoods and agriculture economics.
- Collaborate with the Product team to develop innovative evaluation models.
Industry Engagement:
- Represent PUR's interests in livelihood and agriculture economics at industry forums and with partners.
- Engage with the market through speaking engagements, webinars, and technical publications.
Training and Education:
- Develop internal educational materials for diverse audiences.
- Provide technical training and resources to clients and partners.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as international development or agricultural economics, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- At least 6 years of experience focused on Livelihood topics.
- Proven track record in industry engagement related to Farmer Livelihoods and nature-based solutions.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of French and/or Spanish is advantageous.
